In the coming months we’ll be launching a more focused season of corporate prayer. In the meantime, what if we all stuck these prayers on our fridges/journals/Bibles and prayed the following regularly together? Will you join me?
Pray for Increasing Dependence on God.
Be real about your inability to do God’s work in your own power.
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5).
Seek humility by confessing individual and corporate pride and ask God to purge us of any agendas.
“All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, ‘God opposes the proud but shows favour to the humble.’” (1 Peter 5:5).
Praise God and ask Him to empower us.
Jesus promised He would build His church which is our church.
“And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” (Matthew 16:18).
Pray for Results so significant that only God can get the credit.
Ask God to expand our imagination and “blow our minds”.
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” (Ephesians 3:14-21).
Pray for our city.
“Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” (Jeremiah 29:7).
