This week I heard of so many stories of people who had been recipients of free coffees, groceries, notes of encouragement… Those who were given something were so inspired and motivated to go on and do the same for someone else! When Paul wrote to Timothy he gave this simple instruction of a way to be a part of a bigger story: “Be rich in good deeds. Be generous and willing to share” (1 Timothy 6:18). I guess what he’s saying is you’re not generous because you’re rich but you’re rich because you’re generous.
How might we learn to measure success not by what we get but by what we give? How might we look for opportunities to be generous this week? After all, generosity has a unique way of showing God’s character to the world around us.
