Thought of the Week

I’ve continued to reflect on David’s transition through his fears in Psalm 3, which we read from last week.

1 O Lord, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me! 2 Many are saying of me, “God will not deliver him.” Selah 3 But you are a shield around me, O Lord; you bestow glory on me and lift up my head.

There was a word in my Bible that is often overlooked and underestimated. The process is also overlooked and underestimated in our lives. The word is Selah…

Selah, is most often used in the Psalms and is quite unique to that Book in the Bible. It is a mysterious world generally believed to mean“to pause”.

How true does it seem today, that the genesis of a pathway out of our consuming moments of fear, is to actively pause, reflect and look up to God? How often do you “Selah” throughout your busy week?
