Paul writes in his epistle to the church of Ephesus, “I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”
I’m not sure how you rank yourself this week in light of the instructions above. I certainly had my moments when I was not humble or gentle. There were even moments when my actions could have greatly contributed to unity but I didn’t speak up.
Fortunately we have a gracious God who we serve who is forgiving and understanding of times when we don’t quite get it right.
This week I urge you (as did Paul) to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Aim to be humble and patient (looking to God for strength) and in all ways, look to build the unity in the spirit – perhaps that might be in a conversation following the service today. Let’s be encouraged and see this put into action in greater ways.
