Do you have a bone to pick with God? I have noticed that barely a month goes by when I can project my opinion of myself onto God.
So, how valid is my self-talk? Am I speaking negatively, or speaking the positive message of life everlasting that Jesus conveys? The result of this internal conversation will ultimately colour your image of God. As Sam preached last week, “say what you mean and mean what you pray”. If your self-talk does not pass the litmus test of the message of Jesus, then it’s time to replace how you speak to yourself. As Paul put it in Romans 8:38-39: “38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
It is said, “be true to yourself”, but better to be true to Jesus. (Yes, I’m preaching to myself!)
