As I speak with teenagers throughout the week, it is becoming more and more apparent that the youth of our day are struggling, they are feeling trapped and they don’t know the way forward. All you need to do is google “social media and mental illness” to know that the younger generation are being impacted, in a horrible way, by society pushing its agenda onto them without the ability to see a way through.
I am convinced more than ever that Jesus is the only way forward!
My heart and vision for our youth group is that it will be attractive, not because of its fun games and ability to entertain young people on a Friday night, but because Jesus shows up and impacts the lives of everyone that comes. Imagine if year from now our youth look back and see all the incredible ways Jesus showed up in their lives, the way Jesus healed broken relationships, the way Jesus reminded them that they were created with purpose, that they are not a mistake!
For the remainder of the year we will be focussing on our identity in Christ and what God says about us. My prayer is that these truths will cancel out what the world is telling our youth.
Can I ask that you continue to be praying for the next generation, for the youth in this church and for our youth leaders as we speak God’s truths to them, that they may sink in and impact their lives?
Deuteronomy 6:5 (MSG) says “Love God, your God, with your whole heart: love him with all that’s in you, love him with all you’ve got!”
