As 30 June approaches, a lot of us pay special attention to manage our financial affairs before the tax year ends. Some amongst us may be contemplating a new job or looking for one. Some will be thinking to top up their superannuation, pay down debt – credit card or mortgage or perhaps you’ve had a good year and you would like to give a donation to your favourite charity. And I thank Jesus that there’s been quite a few anonymous donations in our offering box over the past few weeks to give and encourage the work of Northside.
Just as in our financial and physical health, how often do we audit our spiritual life? Are you walking daily with Jesus, pressing in to Him when times get tough, yet feeling His peace and His love? When sometimes I feel God is far away and I am in distress, I take time out to read his word, mediate upon His promises and refocus. I do this intentionally and often when I feel weary or tired, spiritually or physically. John 7:38 says “Whoever believes in me, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”
The first Psalm begins with “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.”
Have you had a spiritual check-up lately? May you have a prosperous new financial year in the Lord as you wait upon Him todirect your path.
