We are already 4 weeks into 2014 and we are having a fantastic year already. It has been so exciting to reconnect with our youth and to see how the friendships have grown and developed, and how the desire to know Jesus and to become one of His disciples has increased.
We, as a leadership team, were blown away by what God did last year in our ministry. From seven young people being baptised on one night, to the spiritual growth in our youth, to the friends that were brought and met Jesus and now call Northside their home, to the desire from our youth to do a talk at youth, to the incredible conversations that we get to have with our youth, as they learn and understand what it means to be a disciple. It really was a phenomenal year.
As I have been seeking God for this new year, God keeps bringing this passage to my attention. “Forget about what’s happened; don’t keep going over old history. Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new. It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it?” Isaiah 43:18-19 (MSG)
In the verses before this, it lists what our God has done and is capable of doing and then we are told to forget that. Something new is going to happen. For Northside Youth, we had a fantastic year last year but God hasn’t finished. He is doing something new! WOW! How exciting that we all get to be a part of it.
Let’s as a church continue to pray for our Youth ministry and for our young people. Let’s pray that God will continue the great work that He is already doing and for new doors to be open for more young people to come to know Him.
