Last Sunday we were thrilled announce the appointment of Adrian Smith as Northside’s new Youth & Young Adult Pastor.
This 3 day/week role now covers both ministries, primarily to foster the significant transition from high school into young adulthood.
We’ve been blown away by how God made this appointment happen.
If you haven’t met him yet, you may not know that Adrian was a member of Northside for almost 10 years before moving back to his home town of Newcastle in 2014.
Adrian became part of Northside after arriving in Sydney as an 18 year-old. During that time, he served in significant areas of leadership across our various ministries whilst studying at ACOM (our Bible College), and worked for our conference centre.
Also during that time he met and married his wife Claire who, as a “pastor’s kid”, has emerged with a huge heart for God’s church, and an even deeper understanding of ministry and leadership from behind the scenes. She is also a gifted leader in her own right.
This has been a big faith step and answer to the call to ministry by Adrian (and Claire) who leave behind a successful career with Telstra, ministry with C3 Church Newcastle and family and friends in that region.
Looking forward, we can’t be more thankful for how this process has panned out.
After receiving numerous applications during a 7+ month search, we conducted multiple candidate interviews. From there it became clear from our side (and Adrian and Claire’s), that this is where they are meant to be.
Will you join me in praying for Adrian and Claire’s ministry as they move into this exciting role? Also, let’s be praising God for the way He has brought such a gifted couple, who also have such an intimate knowledge of Northside and, ultimately, a huge love for this church.
Adrian will start Sunday 12 March at our Young Adults Retreat and his first Youth gathering will be 17 March.
It’s yet another example of how God is continuing to grow His Church!
