Today we commence a new AM preaching series: entitled “Getting Along…”
As the title suggests, it’s a series about relationships and over the next four weeks we’re going to look at how we interact with others in day to day life.
Sam has the privilege of kicking us off today with a message entitled: Getting Along – with the person who has hurt me…
In the remaining weeks I will cover the following topics:
1.… with my imperfect spouse and children who sometimes annoy me!
2.… with the person whom I find frustrating!
3.… with the person whom I have hurt and offended!
Christianity is a relational way of life and it’s essential we handle the above scenarios in a way that reflects the relationships we have with God our Father, through Jesus His Son.
That relationship is based on love, trust, forgiveness and grace. The Bible is crammed full of teaching designed to strengthen and enhance our ability to get along with each other and you’ll recall when Jesus was “pushed” to reveal what He thought to be the greatest commandment, He said: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul mind and strength – and love your neighbour as yourself!” (Mark 12:30-31)
I‘ve said many times over the years, the touchstone for effectiveness and “success” in any church lies in the extent to which its people are relating well to each other and to the world around them.
I’m in good company, when you consider our Lord once said: “By this shall everyone know you are my disciples; if you have love for one another” (John 13:5)
