I just got back from a nine day trip to Israel with 200 other ministry leaders from 53 different countries. During this once-in-a-lifetime trip, I connected with ministry leaders from around the globe who were all committed to disciple multiplication. At the same time we were learning from Dr. Dann Spader and many other national leaders about the life and ministry of Jesus.
My biggest challenge will be “pacing” myself in divulging many of the lessons God taught me whilst over there, but allow me to start with one:
Focus on the few in your small area.
The thing I noticed when I saw the Sea of Galilee for the first time was how small it is. Because it is by far the largest fresh water lake in the area, the Jews called it a “sea.” But it is 13 km long and at its widest only 8 km wide. The area where Jesus primarily ministered was on the west side of the Sea of Galilee. So you can easily see across it, and can imagine how Jesus could view his disciples struggling in a storm.
Yet it was primarily in this tiny area where Jesus did the vast majority of his ministry.
Jesus focused on a “few” in a small strip of land and through that handful of “fishy smelling” disciples started a movement that changed the world.
We too can make a big difference if we, like Jesus, focus on the few. It only takes a handful of God-centred relationships to start something great. Do you have that in your life? If not – who might be the “few” that God is calling you to start sharing His life with this year?
