Faithfulness In Service

“I saw an advertisement in the church paper for office assistance and I applied to see how I could help. I have since done various jobs in the office until finally given the finance role of counting and banking – and now I’ve learned to do a bank reconciliation every Tuesday on Excel”. That all seems ordinary enough for any volunteer in a typical church setting. But what is extraordinary is that this volunteer has given her service to Northside faithfully for 20 years, consistently turning up one day a week, rain, hail or shine.

Elaine Fitzpatrick answered that church advertisement. She has since volunteered faithfully one day a week and is now an integral team member of our small finance team. We look forward to Elaine coming in every Tuesday – she’s on the dot, punctual and always smartly dressed, never a sloppy day, never a sick day, even on Christmas Eve she insists she will bank our oferings! What a trooper, what a gem, she amazes me and she inspires me with her faithfulness and her quiet diligence. How can you express your gratitude to someone who gives so generously of her time and who is such a marvel in our midst?

Jesus teaches us the importance of being faithful in small things as unless we prove we can be faithful in little things how can He entrust us with big things? (Mt 25:21-23)

Ultimately, I see Elaine reflecting a God who is reliable, steadfast and unwavering, and His inherent faithfulness is an essential part of who He is. I am very inspired by Elaine’s consistent and faithful service and very blessed to have her working alongside us.

What faithful service can you render to God, who is reliable, consistent and unwavering?
