Did you ever have dreams of being a superhero when you were a kid? Did you ever imagine that you had superpowers that allowed you to rescue people that were being threatened by the evils and injustices of the world?
The sad reality is we’ve all learnt that we will never have supernatural powers that come from an alien planet or a spider bite. But with or without super powers—there will still be moments in your life when the obstacles will seem overwhelming, and you will have to overcome what seems impossible. In those moments, where do you find the courage you need to face the enemies or evils in life?
This month at Northside Kids we’ve been looking at COURAGE. Courage can be defined as: being brave enough to do what you should do… even when you’re afraid.
Even though one of the most difficult things we will ever learn to overcome is fear, the reality is that we will never be completely fearless. When fear is present, where will you find the courage to stand up, push through, and keep going?
Maybe, for you, true courage looks like standing up for injustice, speaking out for the sake of others, refusing to do wrong while pressured.
Our trust in God means that we have a unique source and unlimited supply of strength and courage. God instructs His people “be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 (NLT).
There will be times when we’re going to be afraid. But we can trust and put hope in a God that is bigger than our fears.
