It’s rare a week will go by at Northside where you won’t hear or read about opportunities to serve and get on board with ministry. We mention it from the platform, have cards & mobile apps with the opportunity to respond to a call to serve and a weekly myservice section on the back of this newsletter.
The reason we place such a large emphasis on service is multifaceted. Firstly, it is modeled in scripture. A great example is Jesus Christ himself, one who regularly spent time at the synagogue (his church) and would have helped out – we see as he aged he was reading scripture in public gatherings and even preaching in his latter years.
Service also builds community and relationship in a powerful way. Being a part of something bigger than ourselves is a truly unique experience. Seeing how individuals can come together and use their time and gifting to make a difference is inspirational.
Finally, service is the engine which Northside operates on. We have some terrific staff but the majority of the life changing work happens through each and every person who is willing to make a difference. Without these champions, our church wouldn’t accomplish anywhere near what it does.
There are so many ways to serve at Northside – all you need to do is have a look at a Partner With Us card today as a starting point or talk to one of the ministry team. Being the Worship Pastor I want to put a call out to anyone who is experienced musically – any instrument (voice included of course). I’m especially looking for people who can play keyboard at any level or had experience with drums. Our musicians work extremely hard every week but I’d like to spread the load a little for them!
Also if you think you could help out with our technical ministry please let me know. It’s not as daunting as it sounds. There are more technical roles, like audio which do require training and experience (some of which we do provide) but there are a whole bunch of areas that need little or no experience – just a willingness to learn! Please let me know if you think you can help. We’d love to welcome you into our team!
