I read recently in Acts 9, where a woman by the name of Dorcas was abounding with deeds of kindness and generosity which she continued doing until the day she died. She gave tirelessly and compassionately, and ministered to so many that when she died, it was the apostle Peter who raised her back to life.
What I find interesting about this passage is that this woman gets mentioned in the Bible because of her simple acts of giving, especially to those who were marginalised and on the fringes of society. Her acts of kindness combined with faith led to the conversion of many in her town.
When I reflect on the generosity of this woman, I think of our own Women’s Ministry here at Northside. Our heart, like Dorcas, is one of service. We’re here to encourage our women to continually and consistently have a zeal and compassion for others that only comes from experiencing a deep personal relationship with Jesus.
If you’re a woman reading this today, then my hope for you is that you will dig deeper into your relationship with Christ, through perseverance and endurance you will make it your mandate to minister with acts of kindness and generosity to those God has placed in your world. Our Women’s Ministry is here to help spur you on because as you reach out to others it will, in turn, help open up genuine conversations about God and your faith.
